Archanes -Giouxtas -Knossos palace Hiking Tour
Discover hiking tours in Crete
The mini bus will take us to Arhanes Village. We start our hike in
under Mount Utah through an old steep path leading to a small
Church. Then we descend on the west side of Mount GIOUXTAS
through a short marked path. During our hike we will have the opportunity
admire nature and wild birds. Then we get to Arhanes Village,
where a mini bus will wait to take us to the archaeological site of Knossos.
After our tour of Knossos Palace we will go back.

Yuchtas is located west of Archanes, about 10km south of Heraklion. It is a small lonely mountain with a maximum height of 811m, but it holds a special place in the heart of the Cretans. It is located in a unique landscape surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, north of the valleys of central Heraklion, west of Archanes and east of the valley of Giofyros Potamos. In antiquity it was a sacred mountain, mainly because its northwestern face strongly reminds of a human face looking at the sky.
